Direct Transfer Decal Application Instructions

1. Prepare the surface
Make sure the surface is clean, dry, smooth, and free of dust, grease, and fingerprints. Freshly painted parts should be completely cured before applying the decal.

2. Cut out the decal
Carefully cut around the individual decal, leaving the clear carrier film intact. Avoid touching the adhesive/printed portion as much as possible.

3. Position the decal
Place the decal face-down against the surface, with the clear carrier sheet on top. Carefully position it exactly where you want it.

For small decals, a piece of low-tack masking tape can be used to hold the carrier in place while you work.

4. Burnish the decal
Using a burnishing tool, wooden stylus, dull pencil, or similar smooth tool, rub firmly over the entire design.

5. Check the transfer
Slowly lift one corner of the carrier sheet.

If part of the artwork is still attached to the carrier, lay it back down carefully and burnish that area again. Don't completely remove the carrier until you're confident the entire design has transferred.

6. Remove the carrier
Once the entire design has transferred, slowly peel the carrier away at a low angle.

7. Final burnish
Place the original backing paper over the transferred design and gently burnish it one more time. This helps press the edges down and improves adhesion.

8. Allow to set
Avoid handling or weathering the decal immediately after application. For pieces that will be frequently handled as action-figure accessories, a compatible clear protective coat can provide additional durability.
